The move to charge a RM1 flat fee at these clinics is among the government's various initiatives to ease the burden of its citizens. The Bercham 1Malaysia Clinic receives an average of 200 patients a day A villager from Kampung Tersusun Tasek in Bercham, Zairol Iskandar, 35, described the clinics as the government's best initiative in providing essential healthcare for its people. "Bercham is an opposition area… I advise the people to recognise the Barisan Nasional government's efforts," he said, recently. Private sector employee Zairol said the clinic was a convenience for the community in terms of the RM1 fee and location. K.S. Nadrayan, 61, who receives follow-up treatment for hypertension said the facility was a big help to everyone. "I'm proud of the government's effort in setting up the 1Malaysia Clinic. Everyone is welcome here and the service is good. And it's very near my house in Bercham Jaya." Bercham 1Malaysia Clinic assistant medical officer Zamri Shaari said the clinic had recorded the highest number of patients compared with the rest in the state. He said the Bercham clinic received an average of 200 patients a day and in its two years of operation, it had recorded more than 100,000 patients. "The clinic services all lower-income groups with a fee of only RM1. This includes treatment for cough, cold, fever, small injuries and follow-ups for diabetes and high blood pressure." The opening hours of 10 am to 10 pm was also convenient for working people, he explained. "Doctors work in shifts from Monday to Friday," said Zamri, who has been in the medical sector for 14 years.
