Water at Sungai Kinta in <b>Tanjung Tualang</b> Exceeds Warning Level

KUALA LUMPUR: The Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) has advised residents staying along Sungai Kinta in Tanjung Tualang, Kinta in Perak, to be on the alert as the water level in the river has exceeded the warning level following a downpour.

In Selangor, the water level at Sungai Langat in Bukit Changgang, Kuala Langat, Sungai Selangor in Kuala Badong, Kuala Selangor and Sungai Labu in Kampung Salak Tinggi, Sepang, has also exceeded the warning level, at 4.25m, 8.77m and 3.72m, respectively.

The DID, in its portal, stated that the water level at Sungai Bidut, Sibu in Sarawak, was at 3.14m and exceeded the warning level.

Meanwhile, the National Security Council (NSC) said the number of flood victims in Selangor has dropped to 1,311 tonight, from 1,357 people this morning, while in Johor, the number of flood evacuees increased to 143 from 138 people this morning.

A total of 30 families in Selangor are staying at seven flood relief centres, comprising four Kuala Langat, one in Kuala Selangor and two in Sepang, while in Johor, 34 families are staying at the relief centre at Sekolah Kebangsaan Sri Telok, Batu Pahat.

In Perak, 39 people from 10 families are staying at the flood relief centre at Sekolah Agama Rakyat, Kampung Padang Serai in Manjung, as of 9pm, while in Melaka, 84 people from 17 families are evacuated to the relief centre at Sekolah Kebangsaan Tehel, Jasin.
