A road sweeping vehicle caught fire at a playground near Block 35 Jalan Rumah Tinggi in the Bukit Merah area at about 2pm today (Oct 15).

A STOMPer, who witnessed the incident, said:

"I witnessed a fire at about 2pm today at a playground at Jalan Rumah Tinggi in the Bukit Merah area.

"I am not sure what caused the fire. The fire was later put out by the SCDF."

SCDF said in a statement about the fire:

"SCDF found a ride-on road sweeper on fire which was near a playground upon arrival.

"SCDF extinguished the fire using 3 water jets. As a result of the fire, the playground was partially burnt.

"There were no reported injuries arising from this incident, and the cause of the fire is under investigation."
